The national currency of the Republic of Armenia

Gradually people came to the conclusion that the product that was designed to serve as money shouldn’t be random or temporary. Just the other way round, it should permanent and stable; strong with a long life; light, so that it would be convenient to carry it. And a certain amount of it should be equal in value to the cost of a specified item to be exchanged, e.g. a house, cattle or a jar.
Currency
The national currency of the Republic of Armenia is called dram (ISO code – AMD). One dram equals to 100 lums. The Central Bank of Armenia has a sole right to issue this currency. The national currency of the Republic of Armenia has been in circulation since November 22, 1993. As of today the following coins and banknotes in nominal of 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500, 1 000, 5 000, 10 000, 20 000, 50 000, 100 000 drams are in circulation .
