(13.11.2011 23:00)

Recently in Yerevan the Armenian and Egyptian Culture Ministries have signed a cultural cooperation program for the period of 2011-2013.

From the Egyptian side the document was signed by the Deputy Minister of Culture Hossam Nassar, from Armenian – by the Deputy Minister of Culture Arthur Pogosian.

The cooperation program is based on the intergovernmental agreement between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt “On Mutual Cooperation in the Fields of Culture, Education and Science” signed on March 17, 1997.

The project provides for the mutual cooperation of both countries in the fields of theater and music, as well as for the interchange between the national libraries.

According to the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Armenia Asmin Pogosian who highly appreciated the program, both sides will receive an opportunity to get a joint financial contribution for a range of cultural programs within the framework of the Armenia-Egypt cooperation.

According to the project, Armenia will take part in Cairo Traditional Fair as a special guest. There will also be guest performances with a co-operative direction in Cairo as well as practice exchange meetings for young writers from both countries.

At the first stage a group of Armenian writers will go to Egypt. Then it is planned to organize and conduct the Egyptian Literature Days in collaboration with the Armenian writers, and to embark on a joint book publication program.

The Minister of Culture of the Republic of Armenia also noticed that last year the Armenian Cultural Days were a success in Egypt.
